Baltic Stewards is a non-profit field-builder. Our mission is to make steward-ownership known, understood and legally workable across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Our mission

A Baltic economy of companies that belong to their purpose.

We are the Baltic chapter of a global movement. Just as We Are Stewards advances the model in the Netherlands, Baltic Stewards exists to do the same here — translating an idea proven across Europe into structures that hold under local law.

We work with founders, investors, lawyers, tax advisors and policymakers to make steward-ownership a real, attractive option for any company that wants to stay independent and mission-driven for generations.

Independent for good

We believe the best companies should be free to serve their purpose — not perpetually for sale to whoever bids highest.

Local, not imported

Steward-ownership is a global idea, but it has to work under Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian law. We adapt it for the Baltics.

Open and non-profit

As a field-builder we share knowledge freely. Our success is measured in steward-owned companies, not fees.

A proven lineage

From a 1903 foundation to the Baltics today.

1903 Carl Zeiss is placed under a foundation — one of the earliest steward-owned firms, still thriving.
2015 Purpose is founded to make steward-ownership known and accessible to everyone.
2020s National chapters take root across Europe — including We Are Stewards in the Netherlands.
Today Baltic Stewards brings the model home to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
